Introductory Rite:
God, come to my assistance R/ Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
R/ as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia.

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art

High King of Heaven, my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’n’s Sun
Heart of my own heart, whate’er befall
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all

PSALMODY

Psalm 110:1-5,7

Antiphon 1:Jesus took Peter, James and and his brother John and led them up to a high mountain where they could be alone, and he was transfigured before them, alleluia.

The Lord’s revelation to my Master:
”Sit on my right:
your foes I will put beneath your feet.”
The Lord will wield from Zion
your scepter of power:
rule in the midst of all your foes.

A prince from the day of your birth
on the holy mountains;
from the womb before the dawn I begot you.

The Lord has sworn an oath he will not change.
“You are a priest for ever,
a priest like Melchizedeck of old.”

The Master standing at your right hand
will shatter kings in the day of his wrath.

He shall drink from the stream by the wayside
and therefore he shall lift up his head. Glory…

Antiphon 1 Jesus took Peter, James and and his brother John and led them up to a high mountain where they could be alone, and he was transfigured before them, alleluia.

Antiphon 2:A bright cloud overshadowed them and suddenly a voice spoke from the cloud: this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased; listen to him, alleluia.

Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where shall come my help?
My help shall come from the Lord
who made heaven and earth.

May he never allow you to stumble!
Let him sleep not, your guard.
No, he sleeps not nor slumbers,
Israel’s guard.

The Lord is your guard and your shade;
at your right side he stands.
By day the sun shall not smite you
nor the moon in the night.

The Lord will guard you from evil,
he will guard your soul.
The Lord will guard your going and coming
both now and for ever.  Glory…

Antiphon 2 A bright cloud overshadowed them and suddenly a voice spoke from the cloud: this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased; listen to him, alleluia.

.Antiphon 3 As they came down from the mountain Jesus commanded them: Tell no one of the vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead, alleluia.

Canticle  – See Timothy 1 3:16

Though he was in the form of God,
Jesus did not deem equality with God
something to be grasped at.

Rather, he emptied himself
and took the form of a slave,
being born in the likeness of men.

He was known to be of human estate
and it was thus that he humbled himself,
obediently accepting even death,
death on a cross!

Because of this,
God highly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
above every other name,

So that at Jesus’ name
every knee must bend
in the heavens, on the earth,
and under the earth,
and every tongue proclaim
to the glory of God the Father:
JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!   Glory…

Antiphon 3 As they came down from the mountain Jesus commanded them: Tell no one of the vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead, alleluia.

Gloria (stand)
OPENING PRAYER
All sit for the Liturgy of the Word.
After the Homily:
INTERCESSIONS (Universal Prayer)
In the presence of his disciples our Savior was wonderfully transfigured on Mount Tabor. Let us pray to him with confidence:
Lord, in your light may we see light.
O Christ, before your passion and death you revealed your resurrection to your disciples on Mount Tabor; we pray for your church which labors amid the cares and anxieties of this world,

  • that in its trials may it always be transfigured by the joy of your victory.

O Christ, you took Peter, James and John and led them up a high mountain by themselves; we pray for all bishops, priest and deacons,

    • that they may inspire in your people the hope of being transfigured at the last day.

O Christ, upon the mountaintop you let the light of your face shine over Moses and Elijah,

      • we ask your blessing upon the Jewish people; of old you called them to be your chosen nation.

O Christ, you gave light to the world when the glory of the Creator arose over you,

        • we pray for people of good will that they may walk in your light.

O Christ, you will reform our lowly body and make it like your glorious one,

          • we pray for our brothers and sister who have died that they may share in your glory for ever.

Presider:
Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that we, who glory in the Heart of your beloved Son
and recall the wonders of his love for us,
may be made worthy to receive
an overflowing measure of grace
from that fount of heavenly gifts.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
(All are seated for the Liturgy of the Eucharist)

Lord’s Prayer
Pater noster, qui es in cælis Sanctificétur nomen tuum
Advéniat regnum tuum Fiat volúntas tua
Sicut in cælo et in terra
Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie Et dimítte nobis débita nostra
Sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem
Sed libera nos a malo

After Holy Communion, all stand for the Magnificat.

MAGNIFICAT (Canticle of Mary)
Antiphon: When they heard the voice from the cloud, the disciples fell on their faces, overcome with fear; Jesus came up to them, touched them and said: Stand up. Do not be afraid.

(Luke 1: Magnificat by Bernadette Farrell: Breaking Bread Music Issue #825)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord
my spirit sings to God, my saving God,
who on this day above all others favored me
and raised me up, a light for all to see.

Through me great deeds will God make manifest,
and all the earth will come to call me blest.
Unbounded love and mercy sure will I proclaim
for all who know and praise God´s holy name.

God´s mighty arm, protector of the just,
will guard the weak and raise them from the dust.
But mighty kings will swiftly fall from thrones corrupt.
The strong brought low, the lowly lifted up.

Soon will the poor and hungry of the earth
be richly blest, be given greater worth.
And Israel, as once foretold to Abraham,
will live in peace throughout the promised land.

All glory be to God, Creator blest,
to Jesus Christ, God´s love made manifest,
and to the Holy Spirit, gentle Comforter,
all glory be, both now and ever more.

Antiphon:When they heard the voice from the cloud, the disciples fell on their faces, overcome with fear; Jesus came up to them, touched them and said: Stand up. Do not be afraid.
