Introductory Rite:
God, come to my assistance R/ Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
R/ as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia.

Sing with all the sons of glory,
sing the resurrection song!
Death and sorrow, earth’s dark story, to the former days belong.
All around the clouds are breaking, soon the storms of time shall cease; In God’s likeness, man awaking, knows the everlasting peace.

O what glory, far exceeding
all that eye has yet perceived!
Holiest hearts for ages waiting,
never that full joy conceived.
God has promised, Christ prepares it, On that day our welcome waits; Every humble spirit shares it,
Christ has passed th’eternal gates.

Life eternal! heaven rejoices:
Jesus lives who once was dead;
Join, O man, the deathless voices; Child of God lift up thy head! Patriarchs from the distant ages, Saints who longing oft would pray, Prophets, psalmists, seers, and sages, All await the glorious day.

Life eternal! O what wonders
Crowd on faith; what joy unknown, When, amidst earth’s closing thunders, Saints shall stand before the throne!
O to enter that bright portal,
See that glowing firmament
Know with thee O God immortal, “Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.”

PSALMODY
Antiphon 1: know the one whom I have trusted and I am certain that he, the just judge, has power to keep safe what he has entrusted to me until that day.
Psalm 63:2-9

O God, you are my God, for you I long;
for you my soul is thirsting.
My body pines for you
like a dry, weary land without water.
So I gaze on you in the sanctuary
to see your strength and your glory.

For your love is better than life,
my lips will speak your praise.
So I will bless you all my life,
in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul shall be filled as with a banquet,
my mouth shall praise you with joy.

On my bed I remember you.
On you I muse through the night
for you have been my help;
in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand holds me fast. Glory…

Antiphon 1 know the one whom I have trusted and I am certain that he, the just judge, has power to keep safe what he has entrusted to me until that day.

Antiphon 2: God’s grace in me has not been without fruit; it is always at work in me.

Antiphon 2:  God’s grace in me has not been without fruit; it is always at work in me.

Antiphon 3: I have fought the good fight; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith.

Psalm 149
Sing a new song to the Lord,
his praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel rejoice in its Maker,
let Zion’s sons exult in their king.
Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music with timbrel and harp.

For the Lord takes delight in his people.
He crowns the poor with salvation.
Let the faithful rejoice in their glory,
shout for joy and take their rest.
Let the praise of God be on their lips
and a two-edged sword in their hand,

to deal out vengeance to the nations
and punishment on all the peoples;
to bind their kings in chains
and their nobles in fetters of iron;
to carry out the sentence pre-ordained:
this honor is for all his faithful. Glory…

Antiphon 3: I have fought the good fight; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith.

Gloria (please stand)

Opening Prayer

All sit for the Liturgy of the Word.

After the Homily:
INTERCESSIONS (Universal Prayer)

The Lord Jesus built his holy people on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. In faith let us pray:
                            Bless your Church, O Lord.
You prayed that the faith of Peter would not fail,
 – strengthen the faith of your Church.

You appeared to Peter after your resurrection and you appeared to Saul on the road to Damascus,
 – strengthen our faith, so that we may steadfastly proclaim that you have risen from the dead.

You chose Paul as an apostle to preach your message to the Gentiles,
 – make us faithful preachers of your Gospel.

You mercifully forgave Peter’s denials,
 – forgive us all of our sins.

Presider: God our Father,
today you give us the joy of celebrating the feast of the apostles Peter and Paul.
Through them your Church first received the faith.
Keep us true to their teaching.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

(All are seated for the Liturgy of the Eucharist)

Lord’s Prayer
Pater noster, qui es in cælis
Sanctificétur nomen tuum
Advéniat regnum tuum
Fiat volúntas tua
Sicut in cælo et in terra
Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie Et dimítte nobis débita nostra
Sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem
Sed libera nos a malo

After Holy Communion, all stand for the Benedictus.

BENEDICTUS/Canticle of Zachariah Benedictus – Luke 1: 68-79

Antiphon: Simon Peter said: Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; and we believe and we are convinced that you are the Christ, the Son of God, alleluia.

(While making the Sign of the Cross, we pray the following)
Blest be the God of Israel who comes to set us free
and raises up new hope for us: a Branch for David’s tree.
So have the prophets long declared that with a mighty arm
God would turn back our enemies and all who wish us harm
.
With promised mercy will God still the covenant recall,
the oath once sworn to Abraham from foes to save us all;
that we might worship without fear and offer lives of praise,
in holiness and righteousness to serve God all our days.

My child, as prophet of the Lord you will prepare the way,
to tell God’s people they are saved from sin’s eternal sway.
Then shall God’s mercy from on high shine forth and never cease
to drive away the gloom of death and lead us into peace.

Antiphon: Simon Peter said: Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; and we believe and we are convinced that you are the Christ, the Son of God, alleluia.
